Out on the town with YY & Charles...
went for din with YY and Charles...had a Winter Melon steamboat (a cure for heatiness and humidity of HK summer?!) ..what did we eat? We don't know! Half of it was unidentifiable... we left the ordering to Charles who assured us that we would like it... It was all "seafood" to us, but I suspect it was "insides". Still tasted good, mostly. Strange looking things, crunchy, chewy, mollusc-y nostril-like things. Thanks for dinner you guys and for introducing us to such delightful treats! How will we know how to order them again next time? Maybe we won't...
There was a loud table in the corner who I thought were triads, but Charles told us that they weren't "gu wat jai", cos they'd be "at work" then. They were just young, colourful workers with multicoloured hair who had carried large bags of...
Afterwards, we went to the Sheraton for cocktails and after-dinner drinks, which had a lovely view of the HK city lights, as the air was clear and not a smog cloud in sight. Charles pointed out to us the bullet-shaped IFC building, which YY thought was shaped like something else... A perfect way to end the night. Good friends, good food...
